The spokesman of the Syrian Foreign Ministry Jihad Makdisi stressed that "the success of the Arab Observers' mission in transferring the reality forms a success for Syria which suffers from policies based on assumed media information."

Hoping that "that the mission would be neutral and professional," he asserted that "the Syrian side provides the necessary facilities for the mission as stated in the protocol signed between the two sides."

In an interview, Makdisi estimated that "the Syrian crisis can find the right solution if the incitement ended and the good efforts dominated and those who refuse the dialogue are back to their senses."

"Syria expands to all and the solution is Syrian at the 1st level," he confirmed noting that "internationalization resembles the complexity of the crisis and not the solution."

Commenting on smuggling weapons and militants from Lebanon into Syria, the Syrian official said "in light of the geography that the two countries share, it is natural that there will be incidents of smuggling, whether of arms or the infiltration of terrorists."

"There is information and public statements from both sides in this regard," Makdisi asserted pointing out that "some individuals and organizations are part of this and that there is no doubt that the Lebanese state is making commendable efforts to prevent this smuggling and infiltration."

"There are enough frames and special relationship between the two countries that allow the coordination of interests between both sides," he confirmed.

Assuring that "the process of comprehensive reform in Syria is a fixed decision," the Syrian spokesman concluded that "the solution of the current crisis lies in the ongoing reform and the ongoing update of the political and democratic scene in Syria."
