A Few hours after the European Union members imposed new sanctions on Iran's Central Bank, and an embargo on the Middle Eastern country's oil, France, Britain, and Germany indicated their willingness to negotiate with Iran over its peaceful nuclear program.
EU3 Claim Iran’s Disregard for Int’l Obligations, Open Door for Talks
The statement published by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and British Prime Minister David Cameron, stated that they are willing to negotiate "if Tehran is ready for serious talks", Reuters reported.
"We call on Iran's leadership immediately to suspend its sensitive nuclear activities and abide fully by its international obligations", the statement read.

After claiming that Iran currently continued to show "disregard for its international obligations", the statement added, "The door is open to Iran to engage in serious and meaningful negotiations about its nuclear program".
"Until Iran comes to the [negotiation] table, we will be untied behind strong measures to undermine... [Iran's] ability to fund its nuclear program", it also noted.

The recent EU sanctions imposed on Iran on Monday include an immediate ban on all new oil contracts with Iran, in addition to the freeze of Iran's Central Bank's assets in the EU. The sanctions also include a ban on the sale of hold, diamond and other metals to Iran.
