Russian Foreign Ministry announced Friday that it doesn't see a point in holding a
quick UNSC vote on the Western-Arab draft resolution regarding Syria.

In its statement, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said "anything can happen... they can ignore their colleagues' opinion and demand an immediate vote, but this project would be predestined to fail."

"The draft is unacceptable for us in this form," the diplomat confirmed.

"We already expressed our opinions and so did our Chinese partners," he noted adding that "a draft resolution must include an invitation to all parties - not just the Syrian government - to halt violence and call for initiating political dialogue without setting preconditions."

"It's too early to discuss voting since negotiations must be made after presenting the draft resolution which must be studied before being discussed once more," the Russian official clarified.

Earlier on Friday, Gatilov said that the Western-Arab draft UN Security Council resolution is unacceptable for Russia, and that his country does not see it possible to vote on the draft resolution at the Council.

Stressing that "Moscow's own draft resolution submitted to the Security Council focuses on the necessity of starting the political process between the Syrian government and the opposition," he noted that his country is waiting for the submitting of the Arab observers' report on their work in Syria to the Security Council."

"We are ready to include the appropriate additions in our text providing that these additions go in line with activating the political process," the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister added.

For his part, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov reiterated that "his country would never participate the West in its bids to impose by the UN influence unilateral sanctions on Syria."

Asserting "that Russia would pursue to criticize, advice, and clarify to the West the risks of such moves," he mentioned that "the West has been seeking to impose unilateral sanctions against Syria in repetition of the Libyan scenario- a humanitarian catastrophic one."
