Al-Assad to Wahab: Stage of Decisiveness Started, Our Steadfastness to Create Qualitative Regional Change

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed that "decisiveness stage has begun parallel to reform process that won't be delayed."

According to "al-Akhbar" Lebanese daily, the Syrian President stressed during receiving the Head of Arab Unification Party former minister Wiam Wahab that "the cost of chaos is much more than the cost of military decisiveness."

"Syria's steadfastness is to create a qualitative change in the regional conflict," Wahab quoted al-Assad adding that "I found him comfortable and assured, and he is confident of the Russian position."

"Al-Assad's description for the Russian position stems from his reading of the strategic position of Russia and that Moscow does not deal with the Syrian file as situational and transient, as some try to reflect," Wahab clarified.

Wahab further mentioned al-Assad's reaffirmation that "Syria is keen Syria's on preserving stability in Lebanon given how crucial this stability is to the Syrian scene."
 
The former minister also said that the Syrian President stressed "the need to preserve the presence of the Druze community in the Middle East, praising its patriotism and nationalism throughout history."
 
"Syria loves all its sons without discrimination or exception," al-Assad confirmed.

Asked whether the meeting had discussed the position of MP Walid Jumblatt from Syria, Wahab, noted that "neither al-Assad nor I mentioned the name of Walid Jumblatt in the meeting."
