Lavrov Warns UN Vote on Syria to End in Scandal
Local Editor
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned the US on Saturday that any attempt to pressure a UN vote on a draft resolution on Syria would lead to "scandal", reaffirming that Moscow is prepared to use its veto power.

In an interview with the Russian state TV Rossiya, Lavrov asserted that his country submitted its amendments on the Western-backed draft resolution, hoping that "bias will not prevail over common sense".
"If they want another scandal at the UN Security Council, we wouldn't be able to stop them", Minister Lavrov indicated, hoping that the US would not put the draft to vote.
