In a press conference, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov affirmed, "Of course any possible military scenario against Iran will be catastrophic for the region and for the whole system of international relations".
"I hope "Israel" understands all these consequences... and they should also consider the consequences of such action for themselves", Gatilov stated.
"I hope a realistic approach will prevail, along with a sensible assessment", he further added.

The Russian official's remarks came in light of recent statement by Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey on Sunday, saying that attacking Iran is "not prudent at this point".
Dempsey also warned "Israel" that any soon attack on Iran would be "destabilizing and wouldn't achieve their long-term objectives".
