Iranian Cleric: US Apology Over Burning Quran Superficial, Crime was Deliberate
Senior Iranian cleric, and Tehran's interim Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami described US President Barack Obama's apology over burning the Holy Quran at the US military base in Afghanistan as "superficial".

"Based on reports [...], this was an intentional move promoted by the hatred of American statement for Islam", Sayyed Khatami affirmed.
"The world should know that the US government is anti-Islam, and the insulting actions of the Americans was not by mistakes, but was deliberate", the Iranian cleric iterated.
Moreover, His Eminence regarded the act of burning the Holy Book of Islam as a "heinous crime", which devastated each and every concerned Muslim.
Sayyed Khatami further criticized the silence of some Muslim countries, which share good relations with the US, and therefore are guilty for colluding in all its crimes.
Earlier this week, US troops intended to burn many Islamic religious elements, including some Qurans, at the Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan. This action was followed by a broad wave of rage among the Afghanis, who condemned the brutal act of rights and religious sanctities' violations. Following the protests, the US President Barack Obama sent an apology letter to his Afghan counterpart Hamed Karzai, claiming that the burning of the sacred Quran was not intentional.
