Minister Mansour: Lebanon Supports Russia, China on Syria
The Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour affirmed his country's stance supporting the Russian and Chinese stances on Syria.
In an interview with Russia Today TV Channel on Monday, Minister Mansour stressed that since the beginning, Lebanon has been against any foreign interference in Syria's internal affairs, believing "it would serve neither the country's people nor the government".
On this level, the Lebanese Minister highlighted the progress achieved by the Syrian leadership in its efforts to implement the sought reforms, initially demanded by the Syrian opposition.
Furthermore, Minister Mansour confirmed that Lebanon will not recognize the Syrian National Council, stating that "even if Arab League stated recognized it, we will not [...]".
"If we recognize it, that would mean departing from the principles that we have followed", he went on to say.
Moreover, Lebanon's Foreign Minister reiterated that national dialogue is the only solution to get our of the Syrian crisis, adding that his country will not implement any sanctions imposed on Syria.
