Larijani Criticizes US Attempt to Destabilize Syrian Constitution Referendum

Iranian Speaker Ali Larijani slammed the US for attempting to undermine the Syrian fresh referendum on a new constitution.
"The Western powers seek to vent their frustration over Islamic Awakening in the region on Syria, therefore, they seek to cast doubt on the Syrian vote", Larijani stated on Wednesday.

Moreover, he added that the West has been targeting Damascus ever since the country stood up against "Israel"; unlike many other Arab countries.
Also, Iranian speaker criticized some Arab countries for their stance towards Syria in light of the current media campaigns launched against it. He indicated that the said Arab countries that refused to assist Hizbullah during the 33-day war against "Israel" now claim that they are advocates of democracy in Syria.

Furthermore, Larijani emphasized that the US criticism of the referendum was not taken into consideration, especially after the reform-seeking Syrian people took part in a free ballot to vote for a new constitution.
