The assembly's report unveiled that the total number of prisoners and detainees reached 4396 people, including 240 on remand, 1137 awaiting to be referred to the prosecution, and 1450 whom the prosecution is still following their files.

Among the total number of prisoners and detainees, 827 were referred to the Specialized Criminal Court, 742 were sentenced, 473 sentences are subjected to appeal verdicts, and 269 whose sentences haven't been appealed yet.

The report was issued after visits by a delegation from the Assembly for Intelligence prisons in a number of KSA's regions where it met some of the workers, prisoners, and detainees.

This came as the Saudi Association for Civil and Political Rights announced earlier that "the Saudi authorities are holding tens of thousands of prisoners without trial for political reasons."
