President al-Assad Meets Annan, Vows on Reforms Amid Escalating Terrorist Attacks
Local Editor
In an attempt to allegedly find a "political" solution for the crisis in Syria, the UN and Arab League (AL) special envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, arrived on Saturday for talks with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

During their meeting on Saturday, President al-Assad asserted that his country is ready to make successful any sincere effort in order to find a solution for the crisis taking place in the country.
However, al-Assad stressed that "the success of any effort requires first studying what is happening on the ground instead of relying on the virtual space that is promoted by some regional and international countries to distort the facts and give a picture contrary to what Syria is undergoing".
Moreover, Syria's President said that any political dialogue or process cannot be fruitful as long as there are armed terrorist groups that spread chaos and destabilize the country.
On his part, Kofi Annan expressed his commitment to work "fairly, neutrally and independently". He said he rejects any foreign interference in the Syrian affairs, and believes a peaceful solution should be reached.
Also, Annan hoped he would cooperate with the Syrian government to launch diplomatic dialogue, and therefore restore stability and meet the people's expectations.
Meanwhile, the armed terrorist attacks are still ongoing against innocent Syrian lives.
On Sunday, the bodies of 12 army and law enforcement members were laid to rest after being killed by terrorist groups' fires. The 12 martyrs were the victims of the unrest while they were defending their country in the areas of Daraa, Idleb, and Damascus Countryside.
On another hand, some media outlets, which serve the conspiracy against the Syrian regime, broadcasted footage showing corpses which it claimed to belong to civilians killed by the regime forces. However, media sources confirmed that the corps filmed in the footage in fact belong to civilians who were kidnapped by terrorist groups.
Family members of the kidnapped Syrian civilians iterated that the corpses shown on anti-regime channels are in fact for their relatives who were kidnapped by armed terrorist groups more than a month ago.
The Syrian Media Ministry affirmed that it will adopt appropriate measure to deal with the media outlets that are smuggling their reporters into Syria, and then forging the facts and findings.
