Imam Khamenei Appoints Members of New Expediency Council

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has announced the new make-up for the country's Expediency Council.
The members will serve a five-year term.
In the Wednesday decree, Imam Khamenei praised all members of the Expediency Council for their efforts in their successful five-year-term.
Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was reappointed as the head of the Expediency Council for another term.
Other members include the heads of the three branches of the government, members of the Guardian Council and the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.
The Expediency Council is an administrative assembly tasked with resolving differences between the Majlis (parliament) and the Guardian Council.
Imam Khamenei expressed the hope that the measures adopted by the Council during the last 5 years would yield good results and produce benefits for all the Iranian people.
The Expediency Council is an administrative assembly appointed by the Supreme Leader and was created upon the revision to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 6, 1988.
