Amnesty Urges Proper Investigation on Civilian Deaths in NATO Libya Bombing
Amnesty International stressed that the the air raids during its military campaign NATO should launch an investigation into the deaths of civilians in Libya, as a result of on the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, the UK-based human rights group said that the NATO had failed to investigate the deaths and injuries of the many Libyans who were "not directly involved in the conflict".
"NATO officials repeatedly stressed their commitment to protecting civilians", senior crisis adviser at Amnesty Donatella Rovera said in a statement.
"They cannot now brush aside the deaths of scores of civilians with some vague statement of regret without properly investigating these deadly incidents", Rovera added.
"NATO's response is tantamount to refusing to take responsibility for its actions. It leaves victims and their families feeling that they have been forgotten and that they have no recourse to justice," she asserted.
Previously, Amnesty International urged that NATO must conduct a probe and determine if there were breaches of international law, in order to bring those responsible to justice. This came after Amnesty stated that NATO itself has documented around 55 cases of civilian deaths, including 16 children and 14 women, who died while it was bombing Tripoli and other Libyan cities.
In addition to Amnesty, other international human rights organizations criticized the NATO for its failure to protect civilians in its alleged task to free them from the former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi's regime.
