During is two day-visit, Erdogan will be meeting with the Head of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, as well as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Despite their cordial relations, however, Tehran and Ankara do not share common views on the current situation in Syria.

The Turkish PM played down the dispute with Tehran over Syria, telling Reuters that "the talks would be smooth."
"They respect our leadership and our opinions. We have good cooperation with Iran and they know we are trying to bring stability to the region," Erdogan said.
Senior Iranian and Turkish officials will also exchange views on mutual relations as well as the latest developments in the Middle East. They are also likely to discuss issues relevant to Iran's nuclear energy

In this context, the Turkish ambassador to Tehran Umit Yardim said "his country is prepared to host the next round of multifaceted talks between Tehran and major world powers."
"Iran and the P5+1 - Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany - are due to reach a consensus on the location and time of the comprehensive talks between the two sides," he added.

The envoy went on to say that "Erdogan may brief Iranian officials on his talks with US President Barack Obama during the recent nuclear summit in South Korea."
