Palestinian Officials: Deal Reached to Free Hana al-Shalabi
Palestinian officials indicated that a deal to release Palestinian hunger-striker Hanan al-Shalabi was reached late Thursday, stating that she would be temporarily deported to the Gaza Strip, Maan news agency reported.

The officials also added that al-Shalabi will be deported for three years in exchange for giving up her hunger strike. Al-Shalabi has been on a hunger strike for 43 days, to protest the "Israeli" policies towards prisoners, and call against administrative detentions.
On its part, the Palestinian prisoners' society praised Shalabi's resolve, and confirmed the deal in a statement. The society expressed its appreciation for al-Shalabi, who has dragged attention to the brutal "Israeli" policies towards prisoners.
Qadoura Fares, member of the Palestinian Prisoners' Society indicated that although the society had rejecting any deportation, al-Shalabi agreed to the said deal in return for ending her strike and being freed.
Moreover, al-Shalabi's lawyer, Jawad Boulous confirmed the agreement, Maan further stated.
According to a high-ranking Palestinian source, the deal was announced after Palestinian officials and the Red Cross intervened to confirm al-Shalabi's approval of the agreement, while the Zionist enemy wouldn't acknowledge her approval.
Also rebuking the "Israeli" deportation policy, the Palestinian Authority Civil Affairs Minister Hussein al-Sheikh indicated that the Palestinian government was not involved in the negotiations, asserting that al-Shalabi should be released unconditionally to her home in the West Bank and not be deported to the impoverished Gaza Strip.
