Suleiman: Internal Consensus A National Need

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman called the Lebanese to derive lessons from conflicts , particularly the civil war, that disregarded national interests and instead served personal and regional gains.
On the 37th anniversary of the eruption of the Lebanese civil war, Suleiman stressed "the importance of the stability Lebanon is experiencing in light of the regional tense political and security situation."
He further stated that "the Civil War should be remembered by taking lessons that conflicts and disputes take place when the axis game and political interests go beyond national interests."
"There can be no rise for the state without committing to the constitution, which is the only guarantee for the country and its people," the President viewed hoping that "the Lebanese would realize the importance of internal consensus over the essential national principles and keep all disputes within democratic and constitutional limits."
