Ayatollah Jannati: West Must Lift Sanctions on Iran

Tehran's interim Friday Prayers Leader, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati called Friday "the West to stop sanctions against Islamic Republic of Iran, if it wants to acquire the Iranian nation's trust."
Addressing hundreds of Tehrani worshipers at Tehran University's central campus, Jannati threatened that "if the West continues its hostility toward the Iranian nation by the stretch of sanctions and pressures, it is clear that the negotiations will be called off."
"As the western side accepted officially Iran's right in peaceful nuclear enrichment, Istanbul talks were a success for Iran," he stressed.
The cleric noted that western powers became confident that Iran does not pursue a military nuclear program after Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei issued a Fatwa [religious decree] clearly stating that the production of nuclear weapons is haram [forbidden by Islam]."
Ayatollah Jannati further confirmed "the importance of the improvement of Iran's economy and the elimination of unemployment and poverty."
"An independent country needs an independent economy," His Eminence said.
