Eye on the Enemy: Senior Intelligence Officers Resign over Chief’s Preferential Treatment

Senior Intelligence Officers Resign over Chief's Preferential Treatment
Ma'ariv - Achikam Moshe David
Three senior IDF intelligence officers resigned recently following the appointments to key positions made by Brig. Gen. Aviv Kochavi. Several officers asked the state comptroller for an external investigation into the matter. Army spokesman called the report a baseless rumor.
The serenest weapon in the "Israeli" army isn't that calm these days. Intelligence Corps (Aman) that typically remains in the shadows is going through serious wobble: Three colonels, announced their resignation because of alleged preferential treatment in appointments; most notably the deputy head of the Research Unit, who resigned in recent days to protest an appointment which created an atmosphere of rebellion permeates the unit's chain of command. The commanders indicated that "inappropriate promotions and appointments are being made that will cause an operational damage."
The resignations of the three colonels came after military intelligence director Brigadier General Aviv Kochavi appointed ''Colonel M'' as head of operations. Several officers asked the state comptroller for an external investigation into the matter.
The intelligence corps "aman" usually remains in the shadows, and rarely makes it to the headlines. Recently, the formation of the special operations division was exposed in the draft report of Herpaz case in which severe criticism was addressed to the officer Boaz Herpaz.

Yahadut HaTorah Calls to End Compulsory Military Service
NFC - Itmar Livon
MK "Yohanan Plesner" (Kadima) who is in charge of chairing the governmental team to examine alternatives of "Tal law", supports the imposition of the civil service duty to all the students of religious schools, except for 1000 "A" students. "Plesner" tops the first signatories on the proposal of a special law and another proposal related to the subject, which are put forward on the table of the Knesset.
According to the proposal, "every citizen will be called to national service. The citizen, who will be called to military service and did not get an exemption in accordance with the law of security service, won't be called back to the Civil Service.
The citizen who is not called to a military service or obtained an exemption according to the law of security service, and did not volunteer for the military service, will be summoned for the civil service." It should also noted that the Minister of "defense" can issue exemptions from the duty of the civil service based on medical grounds, criminal record or for married, pregnant woman or a mother.
It was also proposed to keep the civil service of 3 years for men and 2 years for women and it will be implemented in the fields of: internal security, culture, welfare, health, rescue emergency and immigrant absorption at official bodies, local authorities and other popular bodies determined by the Minister of Defense.
Those who are summoned to the security service and don't comply with it - will not not get the subsidies provided by the State throughout the period of service that must be performed. With respect to students of religious schools, the Minister of "defense" is supposed to give an 8-year delay for the service, and in some cases, exempting 1000 "A" students per year from the service.
End Compulsory Military Service
As for, Yahadut HaTorah, MK Rav Yisrael Eichler has introduced a bill to Knesset to eliminate the draft. "The "Israeli" citizen who would like to serve and the army is ready to enlist him, can join the military or national service. As for the citizens who don't want to join, they can be exempted. Eichler feels the establishment of a professional military is "essential" towards meeting the defense and security needs of the country. Such a military would eliminate wasted manpower. A professional army would put an end to the current dispute, the waste of manpower, and result in a situation in which the national burden is carried equally by all who are interested in doing so and are deemed qualified for the job.

Meir Dagan on Iran: Inappropriate to Threaten Excessively in the Middle East
Channel 2 - Yossi Zilberman
Former Mossad chief Meir Dagan discussed during an exclusive online interview with Internet surfers the fiercest issues on the table, including regime change, an alternative to Tal law and a possible "Israeli" attack on Iran.
During a live dialogue with the second channel fans on Facebook Dagan said: "I think it is inappropriate to threaten excessively in the Middle East." He added: "if you threaten, you have to make your threats come true. And I believe that the attack that will turn the region into a real war zone should be implemented clinically, and not recklessly." He even discussed the campaign of former Shin Bet head Yuval Diskin, "Diskin is a good friend of mine. He is not a politician and he has spoken openly, others have been using different words to describe this situation."
"I do not have an answer about a possible attack on nuclear facilities, "he added," Mofaz joining the government can be a valuable addition of thought and common sense. In "Israel" you must always be quickly but do not be reckless or do something that is not well thought out," he said.
