Wahhab: Russian Position on Syria Strategic, LA Must be Supported
Head of the Arab Tawhid Party Wiam Wahhab stressed Friday that the "recent Russian position on Syria is good."
"The Russian position isn't circumstantial but rather a strategic position that would form the bases for a new regional and international phase," he added.
After his visit to the Deputy Secretary General of Hizbullah His Eminence Sheikh Naim Qassem, in the presence of Hizbullah's Political Council Vice President Mahmoud Qmati and Dr. Ali Daher, Wahhab asserted that "Syria is capable, with its people, to overcome and end the current crisis."
He further advised some Lebanese parties not to use "Lebanon as a platform neither to arm and support rebels nor to sabotage on Syria."
"This vital issue must be addressed clearly and seriously by the Lebanese government and security services and not through media to find an end to the cells which performs acts of sabotage on certain Syrian regions."
Wahhab also denounced on the campaign against the Lebanese Army and reiterated his support to the military institution.
"We reject any repeat to the experience of Nahr al-Bared," he said and pointed out that : "the Lebanese government must take care of the Palestinian refugee camps and secure a respectful living for the Palestinians who live inside."
On the governmental level, Wahhab called for the activation of governmental work in order to achieve people's aspirations and to solve outstanding matters."
The former minister revealed that he discussed with Sheikh Qassem the electoral law. As he reiterated his support for proportionality, Wahhab noted that " once the government adopts proportionality, the Parliament will unveil all the masks."
"Proportionality is in sake of all Lebanese unless some still dream of winning large parliamentary blocs," he added.
"I think that this possibility no longer available," Wahhab concluded.
