Jalili: Lebanon Symbol of Resistance, To Preserve Regional Stability

The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, hailed Monday his country's relations with Lebanon.
Upon his arrival to Beirut International Airport, Jalili stressed that "the bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and brotherly Lebanon, at both the popular and official levels, are good, deep, and strategic."
"These relation also extend to the political, cultural and economic levels," he added.
The top Iranian official further hailed that "Lebanon is now known at the regional and international level as the symbol of resistance."
"Today, Lebanon plays a very important at the regional level in terms of the resistance," he said and pointed out that "the Iranian utmost respect for Lebanon emerges from the fact that it is a symbol of resistance and second because it forms a key to security and stability in the whole region."
Jalili called for intense consultations between Tehran and Beirut to preserve stability and security in the region.
"We should work together through the intense consultations and exchange of viewpoints in the service of the Islamic nation and the interest of the countries and peoples in the region," he added.
The coordination should also lead to "the consolidation of security, calm and stability in the region," he said ahead of his talks with top Lebanes officials.
Jalili did not answer a question regarding the fate of the 48 Iranian pilgrims abducted in Syria. "We'll discuss this issue later on."
