Syrian Army announced early Wednesday the full control of the strategic town of al-Qseir, where fighting raged with rebels for nearly three weeks.

Al-Qseir under Syrian Army’s Control The TV station said that regime troops "restored security and peace after successfully dismantling the terrorist networks" operating in the town over the last few days.
An official in the governor's office of Homs province confirmed the report.

"At 6.30 a.m., al-Qseir became secure," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to speak to the media about an ongoing military operation.

The municipal building in the center of Qseir appeared to be pockmarked from fighting. A Syrian flag was raised above it, announcing government control of the town.

Meanwhile, many of the foreign-backed militants and members of the armed groups were killed or injured during the Syrian army operations to cleanse the region of the terrorists.

Following the successful operations, the militants fled to farms and a village near al-Qseir.

In parallel, a source added that the armed forces dismantled dozens of explosive devices planted by terrorists in the citizens' houses and on the public roads to hinder the progress of the army.

"However, the determination of the army to save the city from the armed terrorist groups led to those groups' full defeat and collapse," the source said.

Reports also indicated that peace and security have now been restored in the region following the defeat of the terrorists.

Al-Qseir is of vital strategic importance as it formed a supply line of arms and militants from Lebanon, just 10 kilometers [six miles] away.
