The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei stressed that the opposing views expressed by the Iranian presidential candidates in their televised debates show freedom in Iran.

Imam Khamenei: High Vote in Iran’s Elections To Defeat, Disappoint Enemy"The remarks made by the 8 candidates with 8 tendencies and views in their televised and radio debates informed people of their different thoughts and views and showed the freedom of speech in the Islamic Iran," Imam Khamenei said, addressing a large number of people in Tehran on Wednesday on the threshold of the June 14 presidential election.

He said that the televised debates abashed the countries which accused the Islamic Republic of preventing the freedom of speech.

His Eminence further described the full presence of all political and intellectual streams and their different views in the debates as one of the strong points of this year's election.
"Of course, I have some facts and words on the comments raised in the debates and God wiling I will state them after the election, but anyway, this move was very good and gladdening," he added.
"High voter turnout is more important than anything else for the country, and the nation with its powerful move on Friday will prove its strong connection and bond with the Islamic establishment and once again defeat and disappoint the enemy," the Leader added.

In parallel, he viewed that the "Political epic has [already] begun from today and ... on Friday through hope, trust and determination of the people [it] will reach its pinnacle."

"The enemies of Islam and the Revolution have used all their financial, media and political means to separate the people from the Islamic establishment and create cynicism towards the elections and the body holding them, but mass voter turnout on Friday will once again defeat the enemy," His Eminence mentioned.

Imam Khamenei also described the forthcoming election as an important and major experience for the Iranian nation, saying that a "consolidated, lively, strong, and hopeful" participation in the vote as well as "maintaining and strengthening mutual trust between the people and authorities will disappoint the enemy and reduce pressures."
The Leader said the elected president of the people can better stand up to the enemies of the country and nation and defend national interests, if he gets more votes.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the more one shows weakness in the international arena and retreats, the further the enemy will advance.
"Therefore, one must stand up to the illegitimate demands of foreign powers with might," the Leader added.
