Rohani Vows to Develop Ties with Turkey

The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed the need for developing bilateral ties between Tehran and Ankara, emphasizing Iran and Turkey's unique historical and cultural affinities.
In response to a message sent by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulating him on his recent victory in elections, Rouhani stated, "Expansion of all-out ties with regional and neighboring states will be a foreign policy priority for the next Iranian administration."
On a similar note, Turkish President Abdullah Gul congratulated Rouhani on his victory in the recent Iranian presidential elections on Monday, lauded the Iranian president-elect's stances, and wished the next Iranian administration success.
The Turkish president also expressed hope to meet with Rouhani on the sidelines of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly in late September.
