Syria: US and Its Allies Provide Political Cover to Terrorist Groups

An official source at the Syrian Foreign Ministry that ''the US and its allies are complicit in conspiring against Syria and shedding the Syrians' blood."

The source further accused them of "spelling out stances and making statements that aim to provide a political cover to the armed terrorist groups in Syria every time the Syrian armed forces have been doing their duty in protecting the Syrian citizens and restoring security and stability all over Syria."

In a statement to SANA on Thursday, the source added that ''these countries launched disinformation and slander campaigns by making statements that aim to incite against the Syrian government."

"These countries remained silent over the crimes of the terrorist groups who terrorized civilians in Homs city, drove them out of their homes and used some as human shields under the watching eye of the world, including the hypocrite states that feign care for the lives of Syrian civilians as they offer military and logistic support to the armed groups to prolong violence and terrorism," it mentioned.

In parallel, it reiterated that "the Syrian government is doing everything in its power to ensure the safety of civilians and meet their needs all over Syria.''

The source indicated that the Syrian government officially requested on Thursday the International Committee of the Red Cross [ICRC] to send a humanitarian aid convoy, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, to the besieged civilians in Homs old city whom the armed terrorist groups are using as human shields, and demanded that it works to evacuate them through safe corridors designed for this goal.

''Syria stresses that the efforts of the armed forces for restoring security and stability to the homeland and enabling citizens to return to their homes are completely consistent with their national responsibilities and are part of the Syrian government's commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms,'' the source concluded.
