Iranian FM Spokesman: To Promote Ties with European States

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sayyed Abbas Araqchi said - in response to remarks by British Foreign Secretary William Hague on his government's willingness to improve ties with Iran - that Tehran pursues relations with all European countries, including Britain, based on mutual interests and respect.

Moreover, Araqchi referred to the statements by Iranian President-elect Hassan Rouhani about the enhancement of ties with other countries, stating that "the president-elect has stressed constructive interaction with the world on an equal footing and based on mutual interests and respect as well as the removal of tensions and reciprocal confidence-building."

Rouhani had reiterated Tehran's policy of good ties with all friendly states and said his government will exert more efforts to promote international relations.
