Wahhab: American designation is "cosmetic procedure"

Former Minister Wiam Wahhab told NOW Lebanon that "that the name Makhlouf is not within the Syrian regime and has no formal responsibility." The statement comes hours after the US announced the inclusion of Makhlouf and other Syrian and Lebanese figures accused of ties to the Syrian regime in an embargo list.
"These events increase pressure on Syria and Lebanon, and in the coming months we will see more pressure, especially since the American administration is in its final months," he added.
"I believe that Syria is stronger than any of these actions taken against it. The problem is the state of delusion in which America lives. They had to freeze my money in the United States, and I have never visited America nor have a penny there."
Wahhab said he considered the decision made today was a "cosmetic procedure" which had no effect other than on moral and media levels.
