The United States and Iran have held the highest level direct talks in over 30 years on the sidelines of a meeting in New York aimed at resolving the standoff over Tehran's nuclear program.
Kerry: Talks With Iran ‘Constructive’, Iran Put ‘Possibilities’ on Table US Secretary of State John Kerry has called talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif "constructive," saying the Iranian side put some "possibilities" on the table over Iran's nuclear energy program.

Following a crucial meeting between Iran and the six major world powers in New York on Thursday, Kerry also praised Iran's "very different tone."
"We've agreed to try to continue a process that would try to make concrete and find a way to answer the questions that people have about Iran's nuclear program," Kerry said.

"Needless to say, one meeting and a change in tone, that was welcome, does not answer those questions," he told reporters. "All of us were pleased that the foreign minister came today and that he did put some possibilities on the table."
The Iranian FM also called the talks "very constructive" and "very substantive" and said all sanctions against Iran have to be lifted in the final stage of talks.

"We hope to be able to make progress to solve this issue in a timely fashion," Zarif said.
