The Syrian Armed Forces recaptured on Thursday a strategic town in Aleppo province.

Military units retook control of Khanasser which lies in the eastern countryside of Aleppo following fierce clashes with foreign-backed militants, according to media sources.

Also, opposition circles also confirmed the event.
Armed groups had seized the town and some nearby villages in August, cutting off the army's supply route to Aleppo.
According to reports, at least 25 militants were killed during clashes which erupted on Wednesday.

The recapture of Khanasser; a strategic town since it links central Syria to Aleppo, facilitates the arrival of convoys of food and medical aid.

In the countryside, units of the armed forces destroyed 5 cars loaded with weapons and ammunition to the east of Hreitan village and for other cars on the road linking Tall Aran and al-Sfeireh, according to the source.

The Syrian national military launched a wide-scale military operation in May 2013 in the country's main provinces to restore security and release citizens from terrorist threats.

On another note, an army unit foiled a terrorists' infiltration attempt from Lebanon into Talkalkh, killing many terrorists and injuring others.

An official source told SANA that two terrorist groups tried to enter through al-Ghaydha site into the Syrian territories, where an army unit and border guard members clashed with them, killing six, while the other terrorists fled away to the Lebanese territories.
