Ghoson: Lebanon Will Not Stand Idle Before “Israeli” Espionage

Lebanon is investigating reports about the "Israeli" regime's stationing of spying devices along the Lebanese border.
"Information about the "Israeli" enemy setting up spying devices on the southern border is more proof of the enemy's ongoing plan to transform Lebanon into an easy morsel while we are busy with internal disputes," said Lebanese caretaker Defense Minister Fayez Ghoson in a statement on Thursday.
Hassan Fadlallah, head of the parliamentary committee for media and communications, will chair a session Monday to discuss information available so far on the issue and would be presented with a detailed explanation on how spying devices function.
"Israel installed and is still installing spying stations along the border with Lebanon, starting from Naqoura passing by Khiam and all the way to Shebaa," Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri told visitors during his weekly meeting with MPs, according to a statement from his office carried by the National News Agency.
Berri said the stations had modern equipment with the ability to monitor the entirety of Lebanon and were all linked to Tel Aviv via devices in Mount Hermon and the occupied Shebaa Farms on the Lebanese-Palestinian border.
The biggest spying station was reportedly located in Al-Abbad area and Jal al-Alam, both located along the U.N.-demarcated Blue Line.
Ghoson further said that Lebanon "will not remain idle and it is following up on the spying issue on the highest levels," adding that the Lebanese army is intensifying contacts with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to find out about the facts."
"I call on the international community to quickly take action and stop the persistent Israeli piracy and violation of Lebanon's land, sea and air borders," said the minister.
