Iran Sends Live Monkey to Space, Returns To Earth Safely

Iranian scientists and experts have successfully launched Saturday morning a research rocket after blasting it into space in the second such launch this year.

The rocket which was launched on the first day of the national Research Week, carried Iran's second space monkey, Fargam, and safely returned to the Earth after 15 minutes, IRNA reported.

President Sheikh Hasan Rouhani congratulated the scientists involved in the mission.
The liquid-fueled rocket was sent to 120 km high into the space to help develop Iran's space research works providing Iranian scientists with the necessary information which would enrich their space technology knowhow, the report said.

During the 15-minute mission, the Iranian scientists have successfully measured signals coming from the rocket including its gas combination and vital signs of the space monkey.

In January, Iran had successfully brought a live monkey back to Earth from orbit.
