The Chairman of Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, confirmed on Wednesday that "the Syrian people, themselves, should decide for their future."
He made the remark in his opening speech to an international parliamentary meeting in Tehran on the ongoing crisis in Syria.
"The reality is that the US aims to break the resistance against the Zionist entity ... and we see that practically an organized conspiracy has been formed against Syria," Boroujerdi said.
Moreover, the MP added that the hostility against Syria is the result of Damascus's decades-old history of resistance against "Israel".
He further added that Syria has proved over the years that it would not compromise its support for anti-"Israel" resistance.
The conference was attended by heads of parliamentary foreign policy commissions of Iran, Algeria, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Russia as well as Venezuelan and Cuban ambassadors to Tehran to review the measures of ending bloodshed and violation of human rights in Syria.
Previously, Iran has repeatedly expressed its opposition to any foreign intervention in Syria's affairs, stating the importance of inclusive dialogue and national reconciliation in addition to democratic elections to resolving the crisis in Syria.
