The military council chief of the so-called "Free Syrian Army," Ahmad Nawaf Dorra, was killed in the town of Qalamoun in Syria, said the UK-based Observatory for Human Rights on Thursday.
The Observatory said in a media e-mail on Thursday that Dorra was killed in an air strike amid violent clashes, along with the military commander of "Sword of Truth Brigade", the dissident assistant Bilal Kharyosh, and four other militants.
The Syrian army troops are also hunting down militants who fled following the liberation of the city of Yabroud, and are advancing in the village of Flita, an activist group says.
Earlier this month, the Syrian Army liberated the city of Yabroud after months of battles, as it acted as a channel for militant supplies into Syria.
