Americans Want US to Reduce Role in World Affairs: Poll Findings

According to the new Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey, results shows that nearly half of those surveyed want the US to "be less active in world affairs," with fewer than one-fifth calling for more active engagement.

The Wall Street Journal said that the findings are indicative of "an anti-interventionist current that sweeps across party lines" in the United States.
The survey also showed that approval of US President Barack Obama's handling of foreign policy plunged to the lowest level of his presidency, with just 38 percent approving.

Another recent poll conducted by the Washington Post and ABC News also revealed this week that Obama's approval rating fell to 41 percent, down from 46 percent for the first three months of the year.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll showed Americans dislike Obama's policies on economy, healthcare, and the crisis in Ukraine.

The results of the recent polls come at a time Washington is accusing Russia of "illegal intervention in Ukraine and provocative acts that undermine Ukraine's democracy."

The Obama administration has so far announced three rounds of sanctions against Russian officials and businesses and has threatened Moscow that the US could impose sanctions on key sectors of the Russian economy.
