Assad: Syria Committed to Reconciliation

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met on Wednesday a number of dignitaries from Damascus Countryside, who took part in reconciliation efforts in some areas.
The Syrian president stressed that Syrian people are the most capable of resolving their problems far away from any foreign interference, noting that the state supports and encourage such reconciliations.
He further hailed the constructive efforts made by the dignitaries for national reconciliation, despite all the difficulties they encounter. He also added that dignitaries' efforts are also important in rebuilding the human being in terms of thought and action by adhering to morals and patriotic principles.
For their part, the dignitaries affirmed determination to continue supporting the reconciliation process.
Regarding that Syria will hold presidential election on June 3, Damascus has insisted that it would hold the vote, despite the unrelenting violence that the country has faced since March 2011 resulting more than 150,000 people have so far been killed and millions of others displaced due to the violence, according to reports.
