The Syrian Army have gained control over Aleppo Central Prison, killing at least 50 militants, after regaining the town of Hilan and other areas in the vicinity of the prison.

Aleppo prison, which have been besieged by militants for over 18 months, has been caught in the deadly stalemate of the war.

"After a siege of nearly 13 months by al-Nusra Front and extremist rebels, regular armed forces backed by pro-regime fighters were able to break the siege of Aleppo central prison," the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Tanks and armored vehicles "entered the grounds of the prison this morning," its director Rami Abdel Rahman said.

The armed groups had been besieging the facility for the past year, and had repeatedly barreled suicide car bombs into the front gates and clashed with guards and troops holed up inside in an effort to capture the prison.
This achievement came as Syrian army further carried out several operations on the axis of the industrial city, the surrounding area of Aleppo central prison, Handarat, Hreitan, Kafar Saghir, Kafar Naha, the surrounding area of the Infantry College, al-Kastello, Baidin, Jandoul, Azaz, al-Atareb, Mare', Daret Ezza and Andan, inflicting heavy losses upon the militants, according to military source.

Moreover, the Syrian army achieved control over Hagop citadel in Aleppo countryside, destroying a number of tunnels, trenches, and fortifications set up by terrorists.
Regarding Daraa city, the Syrian forces destroyed terrorists' dens in the surrounding area ofal-Abbasa Bakery and the communication department, Sajna neighborhood and to the south of al-Khalil Mosque in Daraa city, killing many of the militants.

In Damascus countryside, meanwhile, the Army carried out several operations against the militants groups in the areas of al-Mleiha, Khan al-Sheeh, al-Abbasa and Nasleh Street, killing huge numbers of militants and destroying their vehicles weaponry and ammunition.

Also in Idleb, militants groups were targeted in the areas of Tal Salmo, Abu al-Dohour, Talab, Jisr al-Shughour, Kanasfara, najlyeh and Kifr najd in Idleb countryside.
Furthermore, Syrian army clashed with militants in the areas of Taldo, Kifr Laha, Aqrab, al-Nasseryeh, Tal Dahab, Jisr al-Kharab and al-Wa'er in Homs.
Syria has been facing terrorism since 2011, resulting millions of refugees, thousands of victims, and huge destruction.
