Kuwaiti Amir in Tehran: For Deep Cooperation With Iran

Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah has arrived Tehran on Sunday for deepening bilateral cooperation between Iran and Kuwait.

Kuwaiti Amir in Tehran: For Deep Cooperation With IranThe Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif welcomed Sheikh Sabah at the Tehran's Mehrabad Airport, stating that the Emir's trip would "open a new chapter for the expansion of cooperation" between the two countries.

He further added that Iran has historical common interests with Kuwait and that grounds are prepared for the expansion of relations.
The Kuwaiti Amir is visiting Iran upon an official invitation by Iran's President Hassan Rouhani.
Upon this visit, the two countries signed agreements to strengthen cooperation in various fields, in the presence of Rouhani and al-Sabah.

In parallel, Rouhani confirmed that the visit is a turning point in deepening ties between the two brotherly and friendly states.

"Political intention of both countries officials is in direction of expansion and deepening of all-out ties, so senior officials should have a plan for developing relations, "Rouhani said.
He pointed out that Iran and Kuwait have close and common views regarding the regional and international political issues, adding "Middle East region has been facing many problems in the past years, but we are glad that today we are witnessing a relative stability in the countries of the region."

Rouhani further said that all countries should gather in combating terrorism.
For his part, al-Sabah said that Kuwaiti government and people are keen to develop cooperation with Iran, assuring that this visit would have useful results for interests of both nations.

He stressed on settling issues and removing existing problems among countries of the region, all Islamic states should cooperate in direction of alliance and unity among Islamic countries.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned agreements are to strengthen cooperation in the fields of air transportation, security, tourism and environment.
