"Israel" kept up airstrikes and artillery fire on the seized Gaza Strip on Monday, with the martyr toll increasing to 172 as the Zionist offensive entered the seventh day.
The Zionist aircraft struck hit buildings in seized Gaza City, Deir al-Balah in the southern part of the besieged strip, and in the northern town of Jabaliya, injuring an unspecified number of people.
There was shelling reported in Beit Lahiya, in the far north of the besieged strip, where "Israel" had earlier warned residents of an impending assault.
On Sunday, "Israel" sharpened its campaign against seized Gaza, warning Palestinians in the north to flee after marines mounted a ground attack and following threats by the "Israeli" regime of imminent plans to bomb the area.
Early Sunday, the "Israeli" warplanes also dropped leaflets around Beit Lahia, urging people to evacuate their homes following the threat.
Thousands of Palestinian residents of the northern seized Gaza Strip fled their homes and sought safety in UN shelters.
The UN refugee agency for Palestinians, UNRWA, said some 17,000 Palestinians had headed to special shelters set up in 20 United Nations schools in seized Gaza.
A UNRWA spokesman, Sami Mshasha, said that, "The fact that in a span of almost a few hours, 10,000 people sought refuge in these 15 schools is an indication to the difficult situation on the ground."
The leaflets marked the first time "Israel" had warned Palestinians to vacate dwellings in such a wide area.
Meanwhile, in a statement on Hamas radio, Gaza's Interior Ministry dismissed "Israel's" warnings as "psychological warfare."
Since "Israel's" offensive began on Tuesday, at least 172 Palestinians have been martyred according to health officials in seized Gaza.
The "Israeli" regime claims it is targeting Hamas resistance fighters and their sites. However, the United Nations has estimated that 77% of the people killed in seized Gaza have been civilians.
The regime's military officials further state that they have launched more than 1,300 airstrikes, while Palestinian fighters have launched more than 800 rockets at "Israel."
In four days, "Israel" has pummeled more than 1,000 targets in seized Gaza - twice the rate of the 2012 "Israeli" operation.
