Ex-Deputy Commander of ’Israeli’ Air Force Considers Sayyed Nasrallah’s Recent Airport Warnings
Local Editor
Former Deputy Commander of "Israeli" Air Force, Giora Romm, took the warnings by Hizbullah Secretary General, His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, into account, saying that in a future war with Lebanon, Iron Dome protection will have to be fortified.

Ex-Deputy Commander of "Israeli" Air Force Considers Sayyed
Nasrallah's Recent Airport Warnings
According to the Defense News website, Romm recently said in an interview on November 6 that in a future war with Lebanon, Iron Dome protection will have to be fortified, leaving no interception-free zone available for commercial flights.
It added that, in that case, traffic would have to be diverted to an "Israel" Air Force runway near the southernmost town of Eilat in occupied Palestine.
Just two days earlier, in a recently taped address commemorating Ashoura, Sayyed Nasrallah warned that a new war with "Israel" would shut down the Zionist entity's airport and seaports.
Sayyed Nasrallah has declared: "There is no place ... on the land of occupied Palestine that the resistance's rockets cannot reach."
Moreover, officials are concerned that the intercepts of Gaza rockets in Pillar of War two years ago still won't be enough to successfully deal with far more massive fusillades by heavier munitions.
"Ben-Gurion International Airport would have to be shut down from early on in the fighting against Hizbullah," an official told "Israel" Hayom at the end of October. "Iron Dome won't be able to duplicate its interception rate from [so-called] "Operation Protective Edge"," referring to the latest "Israeli" aggression on seized Gaza in July.
"In the context of Lebanon, it will be something different," Yosi Druker, the general manager of the Air Superiority Systems Division for the arms manufacturer Rafael, said.
"US funding is literally a life saver for us," Druker said.
Director of the "Israel" Missile War Organization, part of the War Ministry's MAFAT research and development directorate, Yair Ramati, acknowledged that a new spectrum of "threats" is fueling "Israel's" continuous need for upgraded "defenses".
Ramati credited "the persistent support from the US" and "more than 25 years of continuously generous bipartisan support" for allowing "Israel" to meet ever-expanding intercepting needs. Ramati specifically credited close collaboration between head of MAFAT, Rear Adm. Ophir Shoham, and successive directors of the Pentagon's Missile War Agency.
"In the Middle East, timing is of the essence. If we had to wait another month or two, the radars wouldn't have been ready to support our needs in [so-called] "Protective Edge"," Ramati added.
Without nearly $1 billion in multiyear US procurement funding, officials said they would never have been able to ultimately deploy nine Iron Dome batteries.
Also, without an additional $175 million requested for 2015, "Israel" would be hard-pressed to reconstitute its inventory of Iron Dome interceptors, severely depleted from the latest 50-day aggression on seized Gaza.
Another $271 million in US-approved bridge payments expedited deliveries of other critical elements needed to augment so-called "Protective Edge" "defenses", officials said.
