Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said Monday that the recent "Israeli" aggression near Damascus was aimed at lifting the morale of "terrorists" in the face of the Syrian army's advances.

""Israel" attacked Syria to lift the morale of the gunmen who are being defeated in Nabal, al-Zahraa, Deir al-Zor, Kobani and Qalamoun,"al- Moallem told reporters at a joint news conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran.

Zarif said Iran condemned "Israel's" attacks on Syria, adding that Damascus' only option was to "dry the sources of terror."

During the conference, Zarif said Tehran supported Moscow's effort to push for a dialogue between the Syrian regime and the opposition in search for a political solution to the nearly four-year-long crisis.

"Iran will not hesitate to support efforts to [help] the idea of an intra-Syrian dialogue in Moscow succeed," Zarif said.

For his part, al-Moallem thanked the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence mam Sayyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for their continuous support for the Syrian people.

He further vowed that his country Syria will maintain its perseverance and we have no choice but to achieve victory against terrorism.

In parallel, the Syrian official expressed Damascus' openness to a political solution based on dialogue between Syrians without foreign meddling.
