MP Fadlallah: Whoever links their fate to a battleship will go with the battleship
Source: NowLebanon, 2-03-2008
At the fortieth commemoration of Imam Hussein in Bint Jbeil, MP Hassan Fadlallah, member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, noted that the political crisis in Lebanon could only be solved through agreement and understanding based on "national participation in power and according to national principles and morals."
Fadlallah said the "massacre and crimes perpetrated by the 'Israeli' enemy" against Gaza and against Lebanon in July 2006 involved the "silent complicity of Arab regimes and the international community to aid 'Israel' in terminating the Palestinian people."
He added these acts added to the Resistance's conviction and commitment to their arms and to fortifying their capacity in protecting Lebanon and its people. "Today, 'Israel' commits these crimes with total American coverage and with international complicity and the complicity of some Arab countries."
Regarding the USS Cole, an American guided-missile destroyer deployed to the Lebanon coast yesterday, Fadlallah said the US had no choice but to send the battleship as "the groups associated with America exhausted all their powers and are no longer able to control the course of matters in achieving what Americans asked for."
Fadlallah added that he wanted to remind "the (Lebanese) groups who receive commands from America" that "whoever ties their fate to a battleship will go with the battleship."
