"Israel" has stepped up the personal security of top army officers in case of reprisal attacks by Hizbullah after an assassination in Syria, "Israeli" public television reported on Monday.
The measures, which cover their homes and cars, came into force at least two weeks ago, it said. Additional security has also been laid on for "Israeli" delegations abroad.
"Israel" is on alert for possible retaliatory attacks after a top Hizbullah operative, Imad Moghnieh, was killed in a Damascus car bombing on February 12.
Hizbullah has accused "Israel" of the assassination. "Israel" welcomed the killing of Moghnieh, who was wanted for a string of attacks in the 1980s and 1990s on US and "Israeli" targets, but insisted it was not involved.
Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah declared "open war" on "Israel" at a mass rally organized to mark the burial of Imad Moghnieh after the killing.
