Holy Shrines’ Martyrs Laid to Rest

Feelings of grief mingled with pride prevailed as the families of six Lebanese martyred in a terrorist Damascus blast laid their loved ones to rest.

The relatives of the martyrs Mahdi Youssef al-Moqdad, Mohammad Ahmad al-Moqdad, Qassem Hatoum, Ali Abbas Balouq, Chadi Houmani and Mohammad Hussein Ayoub vowed revenge during the funerals in Beirut's southern suburbs, the Bekaa Valley and south Lebanon.
The six martyrs were on a visit to the Holy Shrines in the Syrian capital when a terrorist al-Nusra explosion struck their bus.
"The terrorists are delusional if they think we will fall back quietly," Houmani's father stated during his son's funeral in the south Lebanon village of Doueir.
"We have days when we win, and the [terrorists] will have days when they win, but their days are numbered."
A Twitter account associated with the terroist al-Nusra Front, Syria's al-Qaeda affiliate, claimed responsibility for the blast, claiming a Saudi terrorist identified as Abu al-Ezz al- Ansari blew himself up inside the bus. Syrian media and the trip's organizers, however, said the blast was caused by an explosive device planted on the bus.
Houmani's bereaved father stressed that terrorist attacks would not deter the visitors from visiting the Holy Sayyeda Roqaya and Sayyeda Zeinab shrines in southeast Damascus. "We will miss you Chadi, we will take revenge," the victim's seven siblings yelled as they approached his casket.
Draped in a Hizbullah flag, Houmani's casket was carried through the village before being placed on a stage. Feelings of anger and grief also prevailed at the funeral procession of Hatoum in Dahyieh [Southern Suburbs of Beirut].
The relatives of the 24-year-old martyr carried his coffin, also draped in a Hizbullah flag, through the streets. Mahdi al-Moqdad was buried in nearby Ghobeiry, Ayoub in Tayouneh, and Mohammad Ahmad al- Moqdad in Ouzai, all south of Beirut. The eastern city of Baalbek also bid farewell to Balouq in a mass funeral attended by local residents as well as Head of Hizbullah Juristic Council His Eminence Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek and other officials.
The martyr's uncle reiterated the religious sentiment by saying that his nephew was "was adamant on visiting the Sayyeda Zeinab shrine." "He was not intimidated by the hands of treachery and criminality," he added.
