Moussawi: The opposition has grown stronger since USS Cole arrived

Hizbullah's international relations officer Nawwaf Al-Moussawi said that the US policy of sending warships to the region has failed in the past.
"If some consider the advent of the USS Cole as an encouragement for him to ‘steal' the presidency and elect a president with a simple majority, than he is wrong. The opposition, since the arrival of US warships, has grown much stronger," Moussawi said after his meeting with the Spanish ambassador to Lebanon, Miguel Benzo Perea.
He also declared that the opposition will prevent any attempt at to take the presidency. "The confrontation seems to be between a national opposition seeking the independence of Lebanon and US colonialism using local tools that have been used in different ways," Moussawi added.
Commenting on the Arab initiative, Moussawi informed Perea about the opposition's stance in this regard.
"The opposition is seeking participations in decision-making and the strengthening of national unity which guarantees the liberation of Lebanon from US hegemony and foreign interferences," he added.
