Iraqi FM in Syria: Facing Terrorism A Common Goal

The foreign ministers of Syria and Iraq discussed ways to tackle militant groups that have threatened the security of their countries, Syrian state television said Tuesday, citing a news conference at Damascus airport.

Iraq's Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari is visiting Damascus Tuesday and will also meet Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Jaafari's office said.
The discussions "focused on the fight against terrorism and common dangers that threaten our countries," Syrian state television said, citing the meeting.
"Terrorism is not just a danger that faces both countries but one that will affect all countries if there is not cooperation," Jaafari said, according to the channel.
He further stated: "Syria defends all the neighboring countries and this is a big entitlement to everyone abide by Syria."
For his part, Syrian FM Walid al-Muallem expressed confidence that the Iraqi brothers won't spare efforts to break the siege on Syria.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, the Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al- Mekdad received al-Jaafari in Damascus Airport.
