MP Khalil: Berri and Moussa discussed reviving discussions
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 5-3-2008
The parliament speaker's political aid, MP Ali Hassan Khalil, said that Speaker Nabih Berri and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa discussed renewing the dialogue between the opposition and majority.
"This is a chance not to be missed, for it could lead to a solution," MP Khalil told the Saudi daily Al-Watan.
"This idea is not complete; it still needs to be thought over in order to find common ground between the opposition and the majority," he added.
Khalil said that these ideas are based on the Arab initiative.
He also reiterated the opposition's insistence on the Arab initiative. "The Arab initiative can lead to a solution."
He noted that the present political tension has led to national and sectarian division.
"Yet I don't expect the outbreak of civil war," Khalil said.
