Sheikh Qassem: Hizbullah is prepared for an "Israeli", American and international war against it
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 5-3-2008
Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem ruled out the possibility of war in Lebanon. "There are indicators of war, but Hizbullah cannot decide on the matter, as it does not want to go to war," he told the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar.
"The "Israelis" know very well that they will pay a high price for any war," he added.
Qassem said that if there is a war, the aggressor will lose 70% of its power, and the aggressed party will increase its strength because of the people and the land.
He added that Hizbullah is prepared for an "Israeli", American or international war.
"In such war, there are no compromises, only winners and losers. The enemy is not Fouad Siniora or any other internal party. It is the "Israelis" and the Americans," Qassem said.
"The US would have been merciful with the majority if the latter had informed the US of its inability to implement American plans," he said.
Qassem said that the presence of the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces in South Lebanon does not threaten the resistance's work.
"The resistance has recuperated and is completely ready. The present situation has forced it to make innovations," he said.
He added that Hizbullah has been able to form a vast network of alliances after the Syrian withdrawal, especially with the Free Patriotic Movement and some Sunni parties and leaders.
"The party is not trying to create pro-Hizbullah Sunni factions," Qassem added.
