DAILY SCOPE: Syria Battle Decisive Matter, Defensive War

Lebanese newspapers on Wednesday shed light on different developments, topped by the Hizbullah Secretary General speech that was delivered on Tuesday night, and the latest developments on the Yemen, Iraq and Syrian arenas. The resistance and the Lebanese army are putting utmost efforts to preserve the Lebanese territories and borders, at the time the terrorist groups suffer infighting and loss in their confrontation and attempt to cause security turmoil in the country. Meanwhile in an unsurprising step, the terrorist group al-Nusra once again use the Lebanese abducted soldiers as a blackmail card in their battle.

Qalamoun Challenge Decisive Matter ---AS-SAFIR

Analyzing the speech of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hizbullah, as-Safir wrote that Hizbullah has chosen a strategy of ‘confrontation', on the basis that the entire region faces the same threats and challenges, which was reflected through the calm speech delivered by Nasrallah on Tuesday. He linked the events in Yemen, Iraq and Syria to the threats, challenges facing Lebanon on the political and security levels.

According to the paper, what Sayyed Nasrallah explained on Tuesday has been already stated by his political aide, Haj Hussein Khalil during the 11th dialogue session, stressing that the ‘Qalamoun challenge' is a defensive duty and that the resistance [according to intelligence information] had warned that the terrorist groups will benefit from the weather after the snow melts, in an attempt to impose certain equations on the Lebanese and Syrian sides.
Sayyed Nasrallah had assured during his speech that the terrorist threat is represented by occupying Lebanese territories in Arsal, attacking the Lebanese Army, assaulting the Lebanese civilians, kidnapping the Lebanese soldiers as well as threatening their parents to kill them, and bombarding the whole area in Bekaa.

Defensive Strategy to Protect Lebanon --- AN-NAHAR

A high-ranked military source told An-Nahar newspaper that the Lebanese army abides by the decision of the Lebanese state in following a defensive strategy to protect the Lebanese territory and borders. The source also clarified that the army is concerned by all means to preserve Lebanon's security and stability as well as sovereignty, assuring that the Lebanese army can repel any repercussions that happen inside the Lebanese lands due to terrorist attacks.

The Lebanese army has clashed with terrorist gunmen and their Lebanese supporters in the area and other regions several times since last year's August.
On the same note, sources told al-Binaa newspaper that the battles in Syria are very decisive, especially that the result would be encircling Brital region and forcing the armed terrorists to retrieve from the Eastern and Northern borders of Lebanon.

Military sources told the paper as well that Hizbullah conducted three ambushes through which it encircled the terrorist groups and did not allow other extremists from arriving at the scene to rescue the injured. Furthermore, security sources told al-Binaa that the ambushes conducted by Hizbullah proved to be very successful, describing it as a precautionary step to uncover the groups that are trying to carry out security operations in Lebanon's Bekaa in the West or trying to escape Qalamoun through smuggling into Lebanon.

Army General: Will Not Allow Blood Spill of Abducted Soldiers ----AN-NAHAR

General Security chief Major General Abbas Ibrahim preferred to remain silent over accusations by extremist al-Qaida-affiliate al-Nusra Front that he is procrastinating a deal with the group to release the captive servicemen.

"I will not allow the blood spill of abducted servicemen for any of reason," Ibrahim said in comments published in An-Nahar newspaper on Wednesday.

He vowed to respond to all accusations at the right time, stressing that he will not tackle the matter with media outlets to ensure the success of negotiations. Ibrahim had previously voiced fear in comments published in the General Security magazine over the failure of negotiations with the hostage takers in an attempt to improve the conditions. Sources told An-Nahar that the Qatari-appointed negotiator is currently in Turkey and will travel to Lebanon.

Negotiations with the terrorist group had reached dead end several times in light of the tough conditions placed by the group.

Sheikh Qassem: US-Saudi Aggression on Yemen Surpassed all Limits --- Media Relations

Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, asserted that what is going on in Yemen is an oppressing US-Saudi aggression which has surpassed all humanitarian and the legal limits and identifies with criminality as well as brutality.
Sheikh Qassem condemned regional and the international silence, adding that "As the UN Security Council rejected to approve a ceasefire in Yemen; it asserted its support to the Saudi-led aggression and displayed its criminal nature."

"What is the difference between Saudi and ISIL?" his eminence wondered, noting that both of them kill the Arabs and the Muslims and do not fight the enemies.
"Hizbullah has always called on finding a political solution for the Yemeni crisis and that the current measures will exacerbate the situation in Yemen and all the Gulf countries, including mainly Saudi Arabia," he concluded.
