Moussawi Rules Out War in Light of Resistance Abilities
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 11-03-2008
Hizbullah International Relations Officer Nawwaf Moussawi said that the current political crisis in Lebanon was attributed to a team in Lebanon which refused participation and hindered all initiatives.
In an indirect accusation of the ruling majority, Moussawi said that the team sought absolute governance and intended on implementing American dreams of canceling other major political forces in Lebanon.
"This is a violation of our constitution, which stipulates that a government which contradicts coexistence is illegitimate," he added.
After meeting with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Sergei Bukin, Moussawi pointed out that the crisis in Lebanon was not tied to the presidency but predated the political vacuum, which has plagued the country since Emile Lahoud vacated Baabda in November 2006.
"The opposition today is keen on finding a solution which treats the roots of the crisis... and restores the presidency to its right role," he added.
Moussawi undermined the possibility of another 'Israeli' war on Lebanon "in light of the ability of the resistance to incur heavy losses on the enemy and to prevent [the enemy] from achieving political and military objectives."
