The Mujahidin and the Syrian army began a major offensive on several axes in the city of Zabadani in the western outskirts of Damascus amid intense artillery and aerial cover targeting all insurgent positions in the city.

Furthermore, the Syrian army and mujahidin had cut off the main northern route to the city of Zabadani and had isolated the city from the towns of Serghaya and Ain Hur.
