Abi Nasr: Intra-Maronite disputes and the lack of a unified strategy have led to the presidential vacuum
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 13-03-2008
MP Nematallah Abi Nasr exclaimed today to the Voice of Lebanon radio station that the Change and Reform bloc cannot ensure the two-thirds majority alone and that Speaker Berri has a role to play in this regard. "Suleiman's election with a simple-majority vote will not help him, and he will not accept it" he said.
"Intra-Maronite disputes and the lack of a unified strategy have led to the presidential vacuum," he explained, adding, "I will not argue with MP Michel Murr over his statement yesterday. The Change and Reform bloc has made its decision to support the candidacy of Army Commander General Michel Sleiman as president. Yet the majority's rigidity over the electoral law is delaying Suleiman's election."
